Sifu Chris Abbott
Kung Fu in Norwich with Hung Sing Martial Arts Sifu Chris Abbott acheived his black belt in Choy Li Fut in December 2006, and is currently privately studying under Tai-Sifu Willcott on the senior advanced CLF training programme. In 2010 he tested for his senior advance level and was awarded the title of Sifu.
He was awarded British Plum Blossom Instructor of the Year 2008, and earned Grand Champion for two consecutive years at the British Plum Blossom Tournament, 2003 and 2004 and continues to win many medals and awards at advanced level at the British Tournament and other martial arts championships in the region. In 2008 he was part of the Hung Sing Martial Arts School team that attended the Plum Blossom World Championships in San Francisco, and won a silver medal in the instructor level push hands category.
Sifu Abbott teaches all level of Choy Li Fut classes at the studio in Norwich, and is one of the main performers of the school’s Lion and Dragon dance teams.
Apart from recently earning a BSc (hons) Degree in Quantity Surveying, Sifu Abbott is one of the main student representatives for the Hung Sing Martial Arts School, having regularly taken part in many events and fund-raising activities. In November 2007, Sifu Abbott travelled to China with the Hung Sing School team to attend Great Grandmaster Wong Gong’s 80th Birthday Celebrations, and visited the historical Choy Li Fut sites of King Mui, Fut San and Jiangmen!
